Red squirrel using BYG brushpile

Fletcher Wildlife Garden

It was a pretty cold day when I took this photo, but two red squirrels were making full use of the brushpile in the Backyard Garden. They would rush to hide in there at the slightest noise or movement, and they would also take food in there, or sit on top of it to eat.

A great photograph of this fine red squirrel, sadly most of ours native ones were wiped out by european greys.

Good to know the brushpiles are well used by wildlife Christine. One of the major focuses of the FWG has always been to provide habitat for wildlife and this shows that brushpiles do indeed work.
