Very interesting subjects. I don't mind the high-key setting, but I would suggest a different composition.
I would have cropped the bottom to where the reflection of the tree start. That way you wouldn't have the horizon in the centre of your image.
You also would give your main subject a bit more importance in your image.
I also would try to increase the contrast a bit, again that would make your main subject pop.
