March 1st is St David's Day and is sometimes regarded as the beginning of Spring.
Poems and sayings about the month are recorded in this book, 'The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady' by Edith Holden. I always loved this book, which I borrowed from the library many years ago ,so I was delighted to find a copy of it in a charity shop.
