Why do I always click "download and update" when I am getting ready to leave for the airport on a cross country flight?

WHY, I never, ever learn that clicking that takes at least 23 minutes and I only have 20 minutes to get ready and out the door.

It's an Apple. It's sometimes spelt m. a. s. o. c. h. i. s. m. You therefore have to expect these things. (For mine when I get those messages I just go to the Services list and shut down Windows Update which is my way of saying "I'll reboot you when I damn well WANT to reboot you, and not a second before!")

And there's always that message that says "don't shut down until update is complete"
