Polyphemus moth caterpillar (Antheraea polyphemus), #7757

Larose Forest

This very large, bright green caterpillar was crossing a wide gravel road in the forest. It was travelling over that gravel at great speed and was difficult to photograph. I put it on my hand hoping to slow it down, but it kept moving. I suspect it was heading off to pupate, hence the urgency.

there is a hurried purpose about the stretched segments...another dimension to the call of the wild...quite the luminous lass too..
