Oh please Mum, pleassseeeeee…throw the tennis ball for me.
One of the things we have learned to love about JD is his eternal optimism. He always thinks that if he gives us a ball then we will throw it for him. He also thinks that if we take plates to the kitchen then we will load them into the dishwasher and then he’ll get the chance to get his tongue in there. Ha – he’s unlucky on that front at the moment – the dishwasher is broken and we’re having to do all of the washing up by hand. It’s not at all inconvenient especially as we have guests arriving on Tuesday for the week. (She says sarcastically!)
JD believes that if he asks nicely enough he’ll get his dinner at 6pm. There is not a chance of that one happening but he still thinks it’s worth trying for. He is passionate when he asks for his walk at about 3pm each day. His day always starts with the hope that one of us will drop some of our breakfast for him to snaffle or that we’ll leave something on the side that he fancies and can help himself to. He NEVER stops willing things to fall off the chopping board into his waiting mouth.
He takes these things all very seriously (as can be seen in this photo) – it’s a long time since that first day when he arrived here and spent the entire evening charging around the house with the biggest smile on his face that you have ever seen. On that day, he just knew he’d landed in a safe and happy place for him so his joy was unbounded. Since then, his focus has been on making sure that it continues to be as happy for him and for that he has to concentrate hard! What he doesn’t realise is that he’s one of two apples in our eyes and we’d do just about anything to make him happy!
