This "antebellum church of handmade brick, chartered by the state legislature
in 1854 and used jointly by the Presbyterians, Methodists, and Baptists, has
a slave gallery inside. A Greek Revival portico shading the entrance features
three two-story Doric columns, which may represent the three denominations,
the Trinity, or which may have been used because the spacing seemed proper
for the two separate entrance doors. The spire is topped by a weather vane
rather than a cross, in keeping with the Protestant avoidance of Catholic imagery."
