Devil's eye view

The sculpture of St Michael and the Devil by Jacob Epstein to the right of the entrance has become iconic for the cathedral. However we should not forget that this is based on a passage in Revelations to take place in the future and I must say that as of 1962 the Devil is by far the stronger figure of the pair….yet with nowhere near the strength of Epstein's earlier figure up in the old cathedral from 1935
