I Measured What Came Out

Seeing as it is next to impossible to photograph my sight refractometer, what is used to measure PG concentrations, I used a test strip specifically designed for PG..

Winterize FAIL!

As a point of reference this was two gallons sucked through a Universal M-25 diesel engine. I measured the freeze point of what was in the heat exchanger at just 25F!!!!!

I recently purchased some premixed Propylene Glycol 'PG' at the local automotive supply store. The price was very attractive at $ 4.00 / gal. I checked the antifreeze by placing a sample and a thermometer in my domestic deep freeze.
Gee, It froze up , and formed crystals and slush at 5 Deg F.
Take away- I certainly would not use just the minimal amount of antifreeze, as its freeze point as purchased seems to be inadequate at best .
MOVING ON I would love to see an article on 'starting motors' because - they are all the same design, and every body owns at least one or two.
