Mall Construction

Washington, DC

This post is less about this particular image and more about the video below. Let me know what you think.

I wasn't totally thrilled to have these cranes in the skyline because of how they interrupt the normal
skyline of the various monuments on the National Mall. I had just photographed a sunrise at the
Reflecting Pool and was walking back to a Metro station when I discovered that all 4 cranes were
busily carrying on with different tasks. Below is a very short video that I made from a series of time
lapse images covering a total of 14 minutes of real time. The video contains a bit more than that time
period because I reversed some of the sequence towards the end to make for a slightly longer video.
Had I known it was going to turn out so well I would have stayed longer to get more of a sequence.

Well done Sam. Looks like the cars are driving in a large round culvert.

Well done, Sam. The moving cranes remind me of the martians in 'War of the Worlds' by HG Wells. Enjoyed the motion of the clouds best of all.

I like the contrast in movements between the flowing clouds, the traffic and the mechanics of the cranes. Makes for a very interesting video. And another music clip for me to add to my collection :) Thanks!

I really enjoyed the dance of the cranes, Sam. I find the still image fascinating too and I'm not much of a fish-eye fan. V
