The Stiperstones is an impressive ridge running NNE/SSW in the west of the county. Along the ridge are a number of dramatic exposures. These are made of a rock known as Stiperstones Quartzite..... lead has been mined here since Roman times....the crystalline rock sparkles in the sun.

This rock was formed around 510 million years ago, give or take a few weeks ..yeah right.. when this would have been a white sandy beach or shallow sea.....I wonder what was on the beach then....there has just gota be someone wanting money for something lol..
