Portrait of John (with old Nikon D1)
16-AUG-2013 Vern Rogers (fotabug fotos)

Portrait of John (with old Nikon D1)

My friend, John, came over with his Nikon D1 (their original digital SLR. I mounted my 55-300 VR and grabbed a shot of him.
For 2.7 MP, the result is impressive! I think a pretty large print could be made of the original image file.

other sizes: small medium original

Careful, Vern, you'll be driving the prices up.
Cliff Harvey 17-Aug-2013 06:13
Hmmm, I wonder why I get so hung up on pixel count, when all it REALLY takes is a good eye, a well thought out exposure, a steady hand, and a willing subject...! Good work Vern...!

Its d' one!

I was reading a retrospective on DSLR's recently, and the person writing had some really nice things to say about the "fat pixels" in the early low-res DSLR's. Same kind of tonal subtleties we saw in the D3 and D700 when Nikon was content with 12MP for FX.

That is excellent! I do wonder if cameras have made progress when I see this quality.
