This one took much longer to create. It was very hard to select the kids
and play with their complement. This is usually due to the fact that the programs
cannot locate the exact boundary between two objects when they are
actually defined by a multitude of pixels of varying colors.
So, I drew a blue line by hand on the outside of the boundaries of the kids' figures
to facilitate the application of the magic wand tool.
Remember, even after the selection and the cut,
the traces of the boundaries are often, at various places, very rough and uneven.
More often than not, we need to make them smooth by working with the smudge tool "pixel by pixel".
Then I created a rather magical environment with considerably better impact.
The original photo was in color and taken at Clearwater Beach, Florida.
Yet another humble session in the perpetual game of color and light.
