Thanks for interesting comment! We have seen a few of these Fleet Weeks since, but none of them topped really this 1997 event. As much I can recall, the carrier was moving. However, waters in the Golden Gate seldom stand still. Tidal currents have quite a few knots. So the carrier might have been stationary in relation to land...

Just curious: Can you recall if the Linclon was moving at this point or was she stationary? If stationary, you may have a one in a billion photo because I can't recall ever hearing of a carrier performing a launch without the aid of some wind down the deck due to ships movement. Either way, I'm pretty certain there haven't been too many launches done in such relatively enclosed waters. Awesome pair of photos!!
