Locks on the Mississippi

Minnesota

As I traveled through LaCrosse and into Minnesota, I stopped at this rest stop and took this photo of the Locks on the Mississippi River.

Thanks, everyone. Actually, the river is wider than it looks, Michael. This is just a part of the locks. I googled and found out that the largest point on the Mississippi is actually in Bena, Minnesota, where it is 11 miles wide. I believe that it is 4 miles wide at Onalaska, near LaCrosse, but not sure how wide it is here.

Wow - locks on a scale we can hardly comprehend here in UK.
Nice and informative shot

This looks like the control dam associated with the locks, Cindy. Lots of interest here!

Beautiful.
Ol' Man River is a bit larger down in our neck of the woods...
Love to see your end of it some day!
