_SDI9347.jpg
Linseed oil painting on linen canvas. Dated 1846. Illegible signature on the left.
The linen of which is fused and crisp, loosened and deformed;
it is drilled in various places, strongly stained and dirtied; the varnish darkened and became brown.
It is necessary to clean it, to practise a mounting on a new canvas by sticking with dough glue,
to make two ironings, to nail it on a new stretcher, to make a lightening of the varnish for 90 %.
To fill in the holes, then make retouches in "illusionist" mode. Re-varnish two times.
The frame in mouldings is to restore ( missing parts), cleaning and gilt with gold leaf.
Working a few months (fascinating!) in prospect!
Please, see next picture for detail.
