Gould Plaza
This image reflects NYU's ambition to be a "world class" institution (Corporate Empire?). Mayor Bloomberg used the "world class" words in support of a more ambitious NYC/NYU2031 expansion plan after strong community protests and the local NYC Community Board voted to reject the plan for quality of life issues.
After Mayor Bloomberg's public statement the plan was approved by the NYC Land Use Committee, City Planing Commission and NYC City Council giving NYU authorization to proceed with the basic plan.
Local opposition continues with legal proceedings initiated by the Greenwich Village Society for Historical Preservation and NYU Faculty Against the plan that are still pending.

This plan will be a major construction zone for the next 20 years and will seriously compromise the neighborhood residents and local business establishments as well as continue NYU's destruction of historic Greenwich Village.
