Mile 0 on the Pacific Crest Trail

view map

Here we are at the start of a 77-mile adventure on the Pacific Crest Trail from the Sonoma Pass to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. With 30 lbs in our backpacks, we would start high and descend down into the forests of Yosemite NP. There were a lot of ups and downs as we climbed out of many valleys. With the dry Winter, there was some concern in finding a campsite with a water source.

We would meet several backpackers who had started at the U.S. - Mexico border and attempting to hike to the Canadian border, 2663 miles, before the seasons changed. They were always very friendly with a smile on their faces.

Sounds like a rugged and hard hike and trip. I like your focus on the fence post. This has a sense of adventure as the hikes head into the woods. V.

After many miles on the Appalachian Trail I can confirm that hikers are some of the most friendly people I have ever met. v
