Western subspecies inornatus in the foreground and possible eastern subspecies semipalmatus
in the background - in my estimation.
Note the eastern's darker upperparts and much thicker bill with pale base.

There is only one prior record of eastern Willet in Ecuador, a bird collected in 1931.
