Most of these trees are scheduled to be destroyed by the NYU2031 Expansion Plan. This plan calls for the destruction of children's playgrounds, park strips and treasured trees and gardens for the construction of several new skyscrapers in the heart of Greenwich Village on these two super blocks just south of Washington Square Park.
