Castle Stalker sits upon a verdant mound of grass on an island at the edge of Appin. It is a perfect location for west coast sunsets and often finds itself so well sheltered that its reflection becomes visible. Getting far enough out into the water on a rising tide with strong side light enables the photographer to paint a stripe of light downthe western flank of the stone work and strengthen the backdrop of mountains considerably. This was some of the best light I have ever seen here.
