Above the Corrieshalloch Gorge on the road to Ullapool where the river prepares itself to tumble over a precipice is a series of stepped rock platforms, that are in Spring, luminous green with algae. The sun falls directly onto these rock shelves and where the water drops all of ten inch's, the sparkle of the bouncing spray reflects and refracts off the sun creating high speed jazzy tracery that picks up tiny hints of rainbow colour. In combination with a relatively slow shutter speed you can have the best of both worlds, the ethereal nature of soft water and the high speed glitter and sparkle of moving spray that briefly catches direct sunlight.
