Autumn, Wallace Monument

Shiloh, Tennessee

One beautiful place in the park, which I have never shown you. The general whose encampment was here, survived the battle. He went on to become an accomplished writer. His master work became a hit at the box office, about 80 years later, all over the world. He wrote under the name "Lewis Wallace".
The work?
Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ....

I never knew about the connection between the Civil War and Ben-Hur. I enjoyed this composition with the cold, shiny cannonballs against the background of the warm, organic trees and leaves.

Your comments and this very well composed image make me once again to reflect on how much human potential has been and continues to be tragically squandered in war.
