on the boundary of the
Rocky Mountains and the Great Plans.
Above the Gates of the Rockies
where the Missouri River starts to gain stature.
Where upthrust mountains are carved by
canyons and hidden valley ranches.
Where the rivers and creeks are lined with cottonwoods and willows.
Where free flowing waters are home to fish and fowl.
Where the deer and the antelope really do play.
Where the four seasons come and go as fast
as the clouds racing across the big blue sky.
When I awake in the morning it is more likely
to be to sunshine than clouds.
Where storms may come,
but they pass over soon
and leave precious water behind.
