Puna-aavikkokiuru Certhilauda burra
Namakwa, South Africa
Red Lark is a little known bird whose nest was discovered as recently as 1986.
It is a highly localised endemic to South Africa, however, fairly common on scrub-covered red sand dunes (red color form) and surrounding karroid shrublands (browner color form).
Difficult to find. Active (singing) in the morning and late afternoon.
I found them singing only after 4PM, before that not a single sight despite keen observation of dunes for several hours.
