Where I live

At home

Facing south the front rooms are often in the shade, which is lovely
in summer but a bit on the cool side in winter. My computer is in
one of these rooms (the window nearest to the ladder).

I was confused at first until I realized that you were in the southern hemisphere and your southfacing sun would be identical to our northfacing sun. I'm going to have to look back and find your summer photos but it looks like it would be gorgeous in the summer months.
