Gall on bitternut hickory leaf, made by "em>Phylloxera

A small bitternut hickory sapling had a number of these galls on them. Most had opened, as with this one, and inside I found a huge number of Phylloxera inside.

I thought it was a shrivelled skunk cabbage flower with bugs in it. I have never seen inside a gall before.
