Of Henry VIII's six wives, Katherine Parr was the only one to outlive him. When Henry died in 1547, Katherine secretly married Thomas Seymour only months after Henry's death. The marriage was soon known and became a scandal. At the age of 37, Katherine moved to Sudeley Castle where she gave birth to Seymour's daughter, Mary. Shortly after the birth, Katherine was taken ill and died. She was buried in St. Mary's Church. Her burial forgotten after the English Civil War, the restoration of the chapel in the 18th century led to the discovery of her body. She was reburied in a Victorian marble tomb.
