P5113574 James Poley, our Program Leader

...with a bit of Mike Masek, overlooking Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly (pronounced Canyon duh Shay) in Chinle, Arizona. It was cold and wet, but the rains held back enough for us to capture some images of this dramatically beautiful spot. James' inspired sharing of his Hopi and other native culture made the trip especially memorable. His admirable demeanor showed us how seriously he takes his Hopi traditional values: http://www.hopifoundation.org/the-hopi-way/values While we prepared with recommended reading, we expect to continue our research to learn more about Native American history. The class is offered by Road Scholar in association with North Arizona University.
