Corema conradii- Broom Crowberry habitat

Hundreds of these lovely little shrubs in bloom in the Pine Barrens dunes. Extremely rare, classified as an S1 G4 and is State Endangered. The plants found in NJ represent a disjunct, or a widely separated population. Found on sandy or rocky coasts from Canada to Massachusetts, also in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, and in the Shawangunk Mountains of New York. The GREATEST ABUNDANCE of C. conradii is found in the NJ Pine Barrens! It is an evergreen shrub and shortly after flowering it will send out fine bright green needle-like leaves.
