This is a view from the Haines Highway looking back towards the town of Haines Junction. I bicycled along the Haines Highway up over the Chilkat Pass and down to the coastal town of Haines where I took the ferry to Skagway and continued my trip op over White Pass and back into the interior of British Columbia.
The Haines highway is a very scenic route and provides many beautiful panoramic views. Especially remarkable is the passage over and near the highest point of the road and the Three Guardsmen Mountain.
The Haines Highway connects Haines in Alaska with Haines Junction in the Yukon Territory, passing through the province of British Columbia. For the first 180km (110 miles) from Haines it follows the route of the old Dalton Trail and the total length of the highway is 244 km (152 miles) long.
