Measuring Nothing !!

The only thing different in this photo is the location of the chargers negative lead. The charger is still putting out about 5.68 amps, however, because the negative lead is on the wrong side of the shunt it can not be seen or measured by the shunt. If it can't be seen by the shunt it can not be logged or read by the battery monitor. Don't jump the shunt.

Any wire that winds up on the BATTERY or BATTERY side of the shunt I refer to as a SNEAKER WIRE.. No SNEAKER WIRES!!!!

Whether you are drawing a load or feeding the system a charge current the negative load wires must be on the load side of the shunt not the -BATTERY side.

Problem is advance battery chargers "read" batteries and if the neg lead from the charger is not right at the battery, the higher resistance tricks the charger into thinking the battery is charged. My system has to be wired like the picture or my charger will not work. I am not able to read the charge current but I am charging as I can see the voltage. This is not an issue on the alternator, as it just pumps out current so I see the current from the alternator but not the chargers. Any way around this?

what about neg. from starter motor?
