Bill later noted - "My C8 was bought new in 1974. Sandcast arms (holes in them). When they changed to die cast is disputed but the first ad in S&T showing die cast arms was March 1977. But a yahoo post at Celestron uncensored #1326 by Roy Dionne states "no clear break, conversion started in 1975, some sandcast models still produced in 1977." I think we have a gray nebulous area here which is often the case in matters such as these."
