Today the Palazzo houses the administration of the Provincia di Roma - an area that covers not
just the city, but also some 100 individual Comunes that surround it.
Far underground, the ruins of a domus - a large patrician house from the Roman Imperial era, on top
of which the C16th building was erected - have been excavated and turned into a multi-media visitor
centre that was recently opened to the public.
Entry is limited to groups of just 15, so pre-booking for the 75 minute tour would be a good idea!
