Guest, I really don't see the Great Blue Heron's "flock" too much, they stay around here all season long for the most part and most of the time they are by themselves. Not sure what their habit is when they are dying??

There appeared one day what was I think a Great Blue in front of my house on Salt Run, St. Augustine, Florida. He was about 4 feet tall? and the markings the same except it seemed to have some purple in it. Mr. Lewis, an avid bird watcher said he may have flown there to die ... that some birds will leave the flock and go somewhere to die, and that may account for this bird's appearance. Any comments? I do not live there anymore, but am now in New York City's Stuyvesant Town near the East River (an estuary, I'm told). Anyway, the image (on that wintery day on Salt Run) of this most magnificent bird haunts me to this very day. Thanks for being... Leana (leanalu@hotmail.com)
