Trip info:
Almost 4 weeks of travelling and photography in India. Me and 3 participants.
We start on the 18th of November.
The initial route: Delhi - Patna - Bodhgaya - Varanasi - Allahbad - Agra - Delhi
The main attractions:
- Sonepur Mela - Asia's largest livestock fair, a colorful and chaotic event, one the biggest and most interesting cattle fairs.
- Varanasi - one of the holiest Indian cities on the bank of Ganges, photographers paradise.
- Bodghaya - place where Siddhartha Gautama became Buddha, full of Buddhist temples, monastries and Tibetan pilgrims
- Taj Mahal - one of Asia's top attractions
- Delhi's Old City - the bazaars of the Old City
Workshop description:
Most of the time we will work in pairs. I will shoot with one person and two other persons will work together at the same time but in another place. In some places we split and everybody shoots on his own, in other places we might shoot all together.
Each participant will shoot with me often. The two of us will just wander around and shoot whatever we encounter, trying to get ourselves into interesting places and situations. I will share my tricks and techniques, but also observe the way you work and help you GET THE PICTURE if needed. Observing me shooting will also be a learning experience.
In free time me and other participants will go through everybody's recent photos, comment them and give suggestions on improving them.
Requirements:
- a serious interest in photography,
- a camera! preferably digital and some kind of means to store and share your pictures - a small laptop ideally,
- a good camera proficiency (you know your camera equipment well and you are ready to shoot from the first day),
- a willingness to take pictures almost every day for a month (no whining about being tired),
- being prepared for rather rough travelling conditions (several quite long bus travels on bad roads), eating in local restaurants (cheap and yummy) and staying in budget hotels (cheap but still comfortable),
- a sense of humour (needed when the weather sucks, the bus is broken, everybody is tired or hungover),
- loving beer will be appreciated during our late night get together sessions.
A portfolio review will decide if there are more than 3 people interested in the trip.
Cost: £380 per person. If three people go this money will pay my air ticket, the travel expenses and hopefully there will be something left to pay my monthly rent.
What do you get for this money?
- an unforgettable trip to a fascinating place with me and a group of photography enthusiasts,
- a multiple chances to shoot with me only, observe me at work and learn my tricks and techniques,
- regular feedback on the work you produce and on the way you work,
- my travel and photography experience.
