Southern Exposure, Phoenix Convention Center, Phoenix, Arizona, 2010

While not a museum, the Phoenix Convention Center offers numerous works of art in its public areas. The piece of sculpture depicted in this image is called “Southern Exposure.” It was created by Eina and James de la Torre. Cobbled from a series of metal and glass boxes, the huge idol has arms cast from resin. I hone in on just one of those arms here to express the essence of the power and beauty of this unique work of art.

By abstracting another artists work here, I try to do exactly what you suggest, Claudia. Just by limiting this image to only a powerful portion of a unique work of art can stimulate the imagination of others, and that is why I abstracted it as I did here.

This is quite unique, like most works of art and i can truly appreciate how you represent this to us, as always, from a very significant point of view where the image speaks volume, a prerogative that we share among photographers in love with their art...
Southern Exposure is also an interesting title, i can just imagine the rest of this piece of sculpture and a story forms in my mind...

Thanks, Pete, for pointing out one of the most important advantages of images such as this. Photographs can take us where we have never been before, and make us SEE, where before we might only LOOK. That is also one of the most important aspects of expressive photography, as opposed to descriptive photography.

A great find and your objective is achieved.
This is the benefit of Pbase when one see's something that otherwise one never would.
