From the looks of it I think that the beetle eats the nectar from flowers with the long nose (maybe grabs on to it with those two arm things and opens it up more so it can drink faster?) and the hair is to carry pollen. It seems to have grippers on it's feet so it could probably get to the flowers fairly well. Or maybe it gets close and the two arm things grab the flower and pull it closer so it can eat? And then there is the chin hair too, I think it might go mainly for orchids but all this could be the jet lag speaking. Rely cool insect and nice picture too.
