Cockspur Lighthouse

Tybee Island, GA

Heading to the Tybee Gallery HERE soon. This was
taken from the marsh on Battery Point on Tybee Island, GA
looking at Cockspur Lighthouse over the south channel of
the Savannah River. You will see the flag flying in Fort
Pulaski. This was the vantage the northern troops used to
fire rifled shells at the fort in the 36 hour attack that
rendered the fort compromised and forced the surrender. The
lighthouse survived unscathed thanks to the arc of the fire.

Available to view and/or purchase in much larger sizes at:

Canon EOS 1D Mark II ,Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L USM
1/100s f/11.0 at 200.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

We are, of course, speaking of the Civil War or the War Between the States?
Is the lighthouse still in use?
