Algae on these trees does them no harm as it doesn't feed on the trees. The orange color comes from carotene in the algae.

I am so enamored of the art show that nature provides us when we move in close with our cameras. The colors and textures we find are so special as you've clearly demonstrated in this image.

Natures vivid art display. I have never seen this colorful algae display in such abundance, nice find and job capturing the textures and light!
