Places with ship or hydrofoil links to Ischia - one per day, or more!
For most travellers, the easiest route between Naples and Ischia will be by hydrofoil
(ALISCAFO in Italian) or ferry ship (NAVE or TRAGHETTO) from - respectively - the quays
of Molo Beverello or Porta di Massa, both of which are in the main harbour in Naples
(see later leaflet with map).
The hydrofoils are much faster - taking 45/55 minutes - whereas it's 90 minutes by
ferry, but cheaper and at times somewhat smoother!
Ischia's hydrofoil links with both Capri and Sorrento are seasonal, and fairly limited
- when they're not running the only alternative is to travel via Naples.
In high summer (mid-June to mid-September, usually) there's also a daily connection
operated by the Alicost line - which comes from Salerno, with stops at Positano,
Amalfi and Capri - see.. http://www.pbase.com/isolaverde/image/130578291
