Two cameras

The old and the new... anyone recognise the old? The very first pay packet I ever earned went on this old Box Brownie - I think it cost me four pound five shillings, but I can't remember which year that was. Amazing how far the technology has evolved since that time if you compare what the little Lumix can do!

Canon EOS 40D ,Tamron SP AF 90mm f/2.8
1/30s f/2.8 at 90.0mm iso800 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

NIce combo! Love that Six-20. You can still get the 620 film at a couple of places (or respool some 120),
so we're all waiting for the shots from it !! Your - presumably 'Made in the UK' - Brownie was introduced 1947 and
discontinued 1957. It was probably still for sale in Australia into the early 60s. The vertically striped front indicates built 47-53, because after that they changed to a horizontal stripe. However, it may be a bit later (53-55?) if the wind knob and the shutter release button are moulded plastic. Nice big 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" negative. I still love to drag my Brownie out for a 'run' ... paranoid types think I'm carrying a bomb, I think. Love the comparison shot here. :-)

I recognize the old. It took some of the best pictures I ever took. It took the wonderful photo of my brothers on Christmas Day 1945 when they returned alive from World War II. I was little but the picture has been a family treasure all these years. I don't know what happened to the Brownie.

I had a Brownie like that about 60 years ago. My first camera. I learned to process the film in the Cub Scouts. :)
