07_Feb_2010 Skirlie

Aberdeen

Playing around with wireless off camera flash
and a Lambency flash diffuser, which creates an incredibly soft light.
The on-camera flash provides a trigger for the wireless flash
and gives some nice catchlights in the eyes
without affecting the overall exposure

Nikon D80 ,Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG ASP DF
1/60s f/5.6 at 70.0mm iso100. SB600 Speedlight fitted with a Lambency diffuser full exif

A fine portrait bringing out the character of the subject. While dogs have owners, cats have servants. Skirlie looks like (s)he will be fairly demanding of the staff and will be firm but fair. Caption: "When you are through with this, I will be having my lunch, if you don't mind."

Lovely cat, beautifully captured. I have one very similar. I can hear the mind from here: "Will you PLEASE get out of my field of view, I have some serious sleeping to do - sigh. The burdon of admirers! I don't know."

Well, I must disagree with Kath - I think Skirlie looks well impressed, as he should be with this gorgeous portrait...great shot, Stewart!

I'm a dog lover myself - your model doesn't look all that impressed.
Wonderful shot though.

Skirlie is beautiful, and your work with the flash here has brought out the sleekness of the fur coat very well.

You've got a beautiful model for your experiments.
