Sapphire Rannoch

Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, Scotland

I love the intense steely blue colours of a winters morning on Rannoch moor the cold and chill is so silent and creeps over you causing the little hairs in your nostrils to stiffen. Not a breath of wind stirs the air and even if it did it wouldn't affect the frozen surface of the little lochan. At the first kiss of dawn the hot colours of sunrise engage with the snow capped peaks like strawberry sauce drizzled over a frozen ice cream cone. The intermingling of hot and cold colours in soft almost ambient blue light provides a very special transient moment of contemplation.
