Canadian Pacific Railway

Kootenay Landing, BC

With flanges squealing mercilessly, the last westbound to run in daylight rounds the sharp curve
at the end of the bridge making the transition to solid ground for the run down the west side of
Kootenay Lake. General operating practice on the Nelson Subdivision call for the east and westbound
moves to depart Nelson and Cranbrook respectively usually meeting and exchanging trains at McConnel
thirty miles to the east. The lift span is out of sight just beyond the tallest trees.
