The Asparagus season in the Southern Hemisphere has arrived.
The young shoots are showing their heads.

I am not fond of asparagus at all but I do eat it because it is an excellent anti-
carcinogen. Have learned to not completely hate it. If cooked properly it can be okay. Like it coming up through the earth.

He looks a bit lonely there - good contrast between the green and the grey-browns of the soil

Heerlijk. Tijdens het seizoen eet ik ze elke week wel een keer.

Very cool image of the asparagus coming out of the ground. Back in Germany the asparagus is white and seasonal, but here it's available year round. I like to stir fry it with garlic, coriander, soy sauce and white pepper, that way it stays crunchy.

That's a great shot. The green shoots of recovery just starting to sprout, don't tell the politicians.

Lucky you! Springtime and asparagus go hand-in-hand!
Our asparagus did not come up this year and we don't know why..... It is only about 5 years old, so it has not outlived its lifespan.
