I could eat this everyday, great shot Colin! Don't like the "new Vegemite" though, have you tasted it yet?
Sue Robertson16-Sep-2009 22:36
Ah... Vegemite.....There is nothing quite like a cheese and vegemite sandwich!.. I wonder you were able to get this through customs!.. a dangerous substance to Americans.. :)

This jar brings a lot of joy. Not the content but the comments :) Love the song from man at work though. Thanks John Lamb. :))) Oh, and I forgot Colin, I voted for the sake of Veggie and it's followers and for the photo too.

Beer in paste??????? ...oh, no thankyou; I have enough problems... :o) V!!
Maaike Huizer16-Sep-2009 08:37
I 've never heard of it. But I like your presentation.
Mary Bowles16-Sep-2009 06:45
Yes Vegemite, but then again, might not.
Doug Cruden16-Sep-2009 06:37
I believe that Marmite (also a yeast extract) is a very close cousin to Vegemite - I can do Marmite but I must admit it's an acquired taste. Query whether it's 'Beer in paste' though, unless you're referring to it being yeasty :o))

Great 3D shot. BV

Gotta love it. Being another Aussie ex-pat I thought I might have to bring some from Aus, but it's pretty easy to find here in Japan than I expected! My advise to first timers, spread it thinly on toast with butter or margarine.

Nothing to say except quote the lyrics Colin.

Buying bread from a man in brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, do you speak-a my language?
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said,

I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Cant you hear, cant you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover.

I'll take my beer in liquid form,
preferably in a bottle or draft.
Cindi Smith16-Sep-2009 02:01
Tried it, said yuck, but then again, it could be a taste that grows on you. Kinda like a fungus...JUST KIDDING!!! Well, that just leaves more for the folks that love it. If we all were the same it sure would be boring!!!
Fay Stout16-Sep-2009 01:08
I've only had it once and never cared to taste it again... Maybe it's an acquired taste.
Jeff Lobaugh16-Sep-2009 00:49
I think this is an illegal import in the Low Country!!
carol j. phipps16-Sep-2009 00:27
Vegameatavitamin! HAHA!
Jola Dziubinska15-Sep-2009 23:58
Do you use it for making dough?
Jim Stone15-Sep-2009 23:47
Never tried it. Sure evokes strong opinions, somebody keeps buying it. Kinda like SPAM I guess its either love or hate.
Walter Otto Koenig15-Sep-2009 23:40
Sounds like fellow challengers don't know it or don't like it. We always have it in our pantry and I like it on toast best, nice and salty. Our cat loves to lick some off the spoon.
LynnH15-Sep-2009 23:10
I've never tried it... but I heard it was yucky. I figure it must be half decent or no one would eat it. So, it's a matter of taste... or hemisphere! This is a really nice photo, so clear and colorful. It needs a V (for vote and not for vegemite)
J. Scott Coile15-Sep-2009 22:56
She just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich...
Steve Mockford15-Sep-2009 22:24
Makes for nice pictures but not really fit for human consumption. I am afraid that if beer tasted like this it wouldn't have much of a following either.
Naomi 15-Sep-2009 22:21
I've heard a lot about this product, but have yet to taste it.
Stephanie15-Sep-2009 22:00
This reminds me of the I Love Lucy episode where she promotes Vegameatavitamin.
What does Vegemite taste like?
Linda Willets15-Sep-2009 21:42
Never heard of it.
John15-Sep-2009 20:52
You either love it or hate it I suppose. Yak, not my cup of tea (sorry mates)
laine15-Sep-2009 20:38
YEA !!! I've done Vegemite a couple of times & had the same reaction from folks over your way...mostly negative. :) You know you could open vegemite Schools over there, Colin & teach that Vegemite is not peanut butter, we don't slather it on our toast, we lightly spread. Big Vote for the stuff that puts a rose in every cheek !!!
