Abstract Art

Nagaokakyo, Kyoto-fu, Japan

I remember one time when I was photographing beautiful Omi-Imazu town in Shiga-ken. Some high school kids saw me and started muttering "what this American (I'm Australian BTW) doing here taking photos, there's nothing interesting to see here, he should go to some nice place like Kyoto". It's amazing how many people in Japan (is this a kind of modesty?) think there is nothing interesting in their hometown. I beg to differ, even a blank wall can be interesting in the right light!
Recently as I've viewed some of Colin Clarke's work, especially the gallery Playful Abstractions, it shows that it's truly the the photographers attitude and vision that brings out the art.
So, not long after after viewing Playful Abstractions, did I notice some light dancing on the wall of my next door neighbours house. This photo is the result.

I love the delicate fade-out of this shadow, James. And the composition
is just right, of course. Interesting that although in colour, this is a
monochrome image. :-) Very effective, too, with the border and graphics. **V**

Thanks for the 'mention'. When I was making my images - a lone adult male
in a children's playground (only one child with parents present) - I had TWO
visits from 'security' - the first man asking why I was "making pictures of
the ground" (I gave him my card!); the second because it had been
determined I was making 'design spy' images for some other Park! Sigh!
