Among other things today, Dave and I hiked a short trail from Fort Clatsop to Netul Landing. This part of the Netul River (now called the Lewis and Clark River) was used until recently to assemble log rafts for transport downstream to the Columbia River (only a few miles) where they would be loaded abord ship. The activities at this site are not Lewis and Clark related, but it is still part of the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. This is a photo of pilings left in the river which were used to assemble the rafts which were over 800 feet long.

Nice framing with the trees.
