pencil drawing, 27" x 33"
This drawing was inspired by the ginkgo tree that grows in my back yard.
The ginkgo tree is considered a living fossil – it is the oldest tree species on earth,
with a history dating back over 200 million years. During the month of October,
its triangular, fan-shaped leaves turn bright gold and are shed in one chilly night
early in November. When we wake up the next morning, our tree is completely bare,
but a gorgeous golden carpet remains on the ground beneath the tree.
